Dorothy Atkinson

Dorothy Atkinson of Frostproof passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Consulate Healthcare of Winter Haven.

She was born December 31, 1925 in Jacksonville, AR to the late John and Alive (Richards) Homan; and came here from Little Rock, AR in 1944. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof, a former member of the Woman's Club and was a volunteer at the Frostproof Care Center and the Fellowship Dining Program.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Atkinson in 1977. Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Mabe of Belmont, NC; 2 grandchildren, Larry B. Mabe of Silverdale, WA and Kathryn F. Hillsman of Gastonia, NC; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
