Doris M. Wilson

Doris M. Wilson of Lake Wales passed away peacefully Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Winter Haven, surrounded by her loving children and family.

She was born September 1, 1927 in Deland, FL to the late James Richard & Emma Leigh (Hughes) Tucker; she grew up in Miami, married David E. Wilson on May 6, 1946 and they later moved to Lake Wales in 1953 from Bartow. She was a retired nurse, working for many doctors in Lake Wales including Dr. James D. Morgan, Dr. W.E. Manry Jr., Lake Wales Hospital, Dr. Vincente Verzosa and, as a dental assistant, in Dr. Marvin Reddick's office. She was a lifelong member since 1953 of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Ladies Bridge Club, was an avid reader and became a Gator and Bucs fan in later years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Wilson and a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Wilson. Survivors include her children, Diana & Gene Lansdale of Lakeland, Steven & Kathy Wilson of Babson Park, Deborah & Herschel Morris of Lakeland and Darlene Wilson of Apopka; brothers, James R. Tucker II of Fort Lauderdale, Elmer Lee Tucker of Winter Haven and Donald H. Tucker of Port Orange; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Inabinet, Sam Lansdale, Ben Lansdale, Kara Wilson Maschmeyer, David Morris, Jonathan Morris; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Kelly Maschmeyer.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The memorial service will be held 4:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chad Reynolds officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church (Memorial Fund, 16 North 3rd Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853), Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (In Memory of Kelly Ann Wilson, 6913 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814), or the Webber International University (Kelly Ann Wilson Scholarship Fund, 1201 Scenic Highway North, Babson Park, FL 33827).
