Doris Peebles Hardin

Doris Peebles Hardin, 89, passed away on October 23, 2015.

She was born on September 11, 1926, in Ochlocknee, Georgia. In 1942, she graduated from Young Harris College Academy in Young Harris, Georgia. She married her husband of 57 years, Jack Bealle Hardin, on April 17, 1945. Doris and Jack moved to Miami shortly after he became a pilot for Eastern Airlines in 1953 and raised four children there. She was active in Miami’s Cross Trail Square Dance Club and designed dance fashions for the ladies. Doris and Jack retired to Tiger Creek, near Lake Wales, FL, in 1983. A loving mother and grandmother, she was a member of the Garden Club and the Mardi Gras Krewe of Pegasus in Lake Wales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Leslie Peebles, Jr., and Myrtle Ellen Johnson Peebles, and her husband, Jack Bealle Hardin. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Samuel Bealle Hardin of Lake Wales, FL, Charles Douglas Hardin (Gail) of Coral Springs, FL, Cynthia Hardin Woodcock (Charles) of Ellicott City, MD, and Lisa Hardin Hammer (Brian Duplisea) of Miami, FL; grandchildren Jeffrey Bealle Hardin (Emily) of Stewart, Ohio, Christopher Douglas Hardin (Jessica) of Lutz, FL, Rebecca Jane Hardin of New Orleans, LA, Ellen Corinne Woodcock of New York, NY, and Catherine Ferrell Woodcock of Boston, MA; and great-grandchildren Charlie Mae Hardin of Stewart, Ohio, and Dylan Douglas Hardin of Lutz, FL.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, 454 South Buck Moore Road, Lake Wales, FL with Rev. Jeffrey B. Kantz officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
