LAKE WALES--Donald L. Smith, 67, of Lake Wales died Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Good Shepherd Hospice.

Born July 01, 1939 in Detroit, MI; he came to the area in 2002 from Miami. He was a retired mechanical engineer for Atlas Metal in Miami. He was a member of the Lake Wales Lutheran Church and a veteran serving in the U.S. Army National Guard. He loved reading, golfing, tennis and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Ellis, Tracey Leneave and Laurie McBeath all of Lake Wales; sister, Patricia Hazamy of Dearborn, MI, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Lake Wales Lutheran Church with Dr. John Glamann officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
