Donald Patton

Donald L. Patton of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born November 25, 1934 in Pound, VA; he came here from New Port News, VA in October 1978. He was an active member of the Newberry Baptist Fellowship in Winter Haven where he was an usher; and he was a US Army veteran of Vietnam, other tours of duty include Germany and Iran. He was a Washington Red Skins fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles and working with his son at Patton Tire. He was well loved by his friends for his love of Christ and commitment to his community.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Patton.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Patton; three sons, Donald R. Patton II of Winter Haven, Darren Patton (Anita) of Lake Wales and Darrell Patton (Paula) of Winter Haven; mother, Nanna “Mawmaw” Patton of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters, Norma Jean Smith of Woodbridge, VA and Carolyn Sue Yoder of Woodbridge, VA; eight brothers, Clayton Patton of Manassas, VA, Clyde Patton of Manassas, VA, Joe Patton of Zephyrhills, Sam Patton of Woodbridge, VA, Bob Patton of Woodbridge, VA, Carl Patton of Woodbridge, VA, Billy Patton of Woodbridge, VA and Jerry Patton of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Whitney, Dylan, Danielle, David, Brooke and Zack; and two great-grandchildren, Kagan and Kaylynn.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the funeral service at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.
