Donald Eugene Burris, 82
Donald E. “Don” Burris of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Advent Health.
He was born March 22, 1937 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Lester S. and Catherine M. (Critser) Burris. He has been a resident of the area since 2011 coming from Bradenton, Florida. He was self-employed as a Compensation/Benefits Consultant and former Band Director at Highland High School in Anderson, Indiana. Don served in the Navy Reserves and was a member of the High Point Church. He was a Professional Fishing Guide for the St. Johns River and Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, a former Regional Board Member for the American Compensation Association and was a lifetime Boy Scout.
He is preceded in death by his sister Karon Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Eleanor K. Burris, daughters Janet Burris of Lake Wales, FL, Jean Ann Rhea and husband Russel of Knoxville, TN, Lora Caperton and husband Frank of Murfreesboro, TN, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the High Point Church Building Fund at 501 Burns Avenue Lake Wales, FL. 33853.
