Donald Edward Collins, 71

Donald Edward Collins of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Advent Health Lake Wales.

He was born November 28, 1949 in Queens, New York, to the late Edward and Eileen Collins; he moved to Lake Wales from Long Island, New York in 1987. Donald was a veteran of the United States Navy who served in Vietnam. He was a hard working, family-oriented man and enjoyed playing with the kids and grandkids. Donald was a terrific husband, father, and grandfather.

Donald is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Marie Collins; daughter, Donna Collins of Lake Wales; sons, Donald E. Collins, Jr. and wife Kathryn of Jackson, Michigan, James E. Collins and wife Tiffany of Lake Wales, and Christopher J. Collins of Lake Wales; sister, Laurie Downs of Riverhead, New York; brother, Steven Collins and wife Elaine of Clayton, North Carolina; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
