LAKE WALES -- Mr. Derek Smithers of Lake Wales died of renal failure Friday (May 19, 2006) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 36.

Born Sept. 9, 1969, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., Mr. Smithers moved to Lake Wales from there in 1980. He worked as a shift foreman for Liqui-Box Corp, Lake Wales, for 12 years.

Mr. Smithers is survived by his mother, Sally M. Smithers, Lake Wales; brothers, Greg Reynolds, Manhattan, Jon Reynolds, Okinawa, Japan; sisters, Laurie Wheatcroft, Andover, Ka., Andrea Snyder, Syracuse, N.Y., Lynnell Wagner, Lake Wales.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
