Delma M. Cannon of Frostproof passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born January 30, 1928 in Bouquette, Republic of Panama; she came here 56 years ago from Panama. She was a Bilingual Teacher’s Aid for the Polk County School Board and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof. She was dedicated to her bilingual students, she started the first 4-H Club in Frostproof. She enjoyed family times, sewing and cooking. She was an avid TV sports fan and a good conversationalist.

Delma was preceded in death by her husband, Jorden Cannon and a daughter, Deborah Cannon. Survivors include her children, John G. (wife, Cheryl) Cannon of Fort Pierce, Sandra (husband, Greg) Miller of Frostproof, Margie (husband, Jeff) Sikes of Babson Park and Janice (husband, Rick) Springfield of Frostproof; siblings, Ruth Sosin of Stone Mountain, GA and Thatcher Lamastus of Panama; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, October 31, 2008 at the First Untied Methodist Church in Frostproof. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
