Deborah Jean Cowles, 59

Deborah Jean Cowles of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at AdventHealth Sebring.

She was born September 18, 1963, in Goldsboro, North Carolina; she was a lifelong resident of Lake Wales. Deborah was a Paraprofessional at Alturas Elementary School and attended High Point Church. She enjoyed going to the beach, going on cruises, camping and watching Charlie Brown. She loved her family and caring for them.

Deborah was preceded in death by her son, David Cowles; and father, James Virgil Hines.

She is survived by her husband of 31 ½ years, John “JD” Cowles; daughter, Stephanie Higley and husband Scott of North Port, and Leslie Cowles of Bartow; sons, Steven Cowles and wife Tiffany of Keizer, Oregon, and Jesse Barnett of Lake Wales; mother, Winifred Beck Mahoney of Bartow; sister, Genelle Spears and husband John of Bartow; many grandchildren; and friend, Bonnie Barlow of Navarre.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Mr. Ricky Land and Mr. Isaiah Dorado officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Memorial Gardens.
