David Wheeland

David Wheeland, 90, of Lake Wales, FL passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born in Mogadore, Ohio to the late Howard and Edyth Wheeland. David resided in Lake Wales since 1990. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 until 1946. He was wounded at Iwo Jima Volcano Islands in 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. After the service he attended Case Western Reserve University and in 1949 was employed with Texaco Corp for many years. David was a member of the Lake Wales Country Club for 24 years where he enjoyed many round of golf with all his many good friends.

David was preceded in death by his two sisters, Kathlan Baney and June Ramer.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two children, Nancee Sussman and Michael Wheeland; two grandchildren, Nathan Franks and Jason Franks; three step-children, Lindsay and Keith Gustafson and Jill Wagner; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Leo Wagner.

Private family service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
