David “Wally” Waller passed away on November 19, 2022 at the age of 67, after a brief battle with cancer.
Wally, a retired law enforcement officer, was known by many for his love for his family, friends, and community. He began his law enforcement career at Lake Wales Police Department before moving to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and then the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, from which he retired in 2012. Even after retirement, Wally kept busy, spending time with his friends and family, starting a business, selling houses, golfing, and traveling. He became involved with Toys for Tots in 2017 and remained dedicated for the remainder of his life to making sure every child had a Christmas.
Wally is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter Laura Webster (Brian) and grandchildren (Charlotte and Noah); his brother, Robert Waller (Maureen); sisters, Rhonda Stone (Wayne) and Becky Marsella (Rey); many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the Lakeland First United Methodist Church on December 16, 2022, at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Wally’s Life at the Lakeland Fraternal Order of Police.
In lieu of flowers, please bring a new, unwrapped toy to the church, or donate in Wally’s honor to the Polk County Toys for Tots chapter (polkcounty.FL@toysfortots.org).
