David Allen Orsburn

HAINES CITY - David Allen 'Duffy' Orsburn, 67, Environmental Specialist, passed away on December 27, 2014.

He was born on January 1, 1947, in Lake Wales, Florida. He was the first baby born for 1947 at Lake Wales Hospital. He moved to Haines City as a small child and graduated from Haines City High School in 1965.

He was predeceased by his parents, Clay Allen Orsburn and Betty (Cooke) Orsburn Balderson and sister Cindy Hunt. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman as a X-Ray Technician and did a Mediterranean Tour aboard The USS Yellowstone AD 27. After his Navy Tour, he attended Polk Jr. College earning an A.S. and an A.A. degree. He then attended Florida Atlantic University earning a B.S.E. degree. In 1974, he moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, and went to work for The State of Florida as an environmental Specialist Inspector with the Lee County Health Dept. After retiring, he moved back to Polk County.
He was a member of The American legion Post 24, Sons of The American Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Destroyer Escort Sailors Assoc (DESA), USS Yellowstone AD27 Society and Fleet Reserve Assoc (FRA).
He is survived by best friend and caregiver Linda Taylor.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
