David Law of Marco Island passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Avow Hospice in Naples.
He was born August 22, 1955 in Savannah, GA and has lived in Marco Island for 30 years, coming from Marathon. David grew up on the water, as a teenager he worked for his father repairing outboard motors and raced boats in his youth. He started working on fishing boats, fishing for whatever was in season and soon came to own a fleet of fishing boats. He later sold his fleet and bought Goodland Bay Marina. Because David could never leave things the way they were, he built the marina up by adding dry storage, mechanic work and a restaurant. After selling the marina, he bought the Napa store in Marco Island and continued to operate it until his death. He never lost his love of the water by continuing to deep sea fish and spending time with his family and friends boating.
David was preceded in death by his father, Milt, a brother, Rick and a sister, Pam. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Rita Law; three sons, David R. Law (Vanessa) of Jacksonville, Bobby Law (Crystal) of Marco Island and Josh Law (Amanda) of Marco Island; mother, Gladys Law of Marco Island; sister, Joy Anders of Marco Island; and three grandchildren, Robert, Kade and Taylin.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home Chapel in Marco Island.
For those who wish, donations may be sent to Avow Hospice (1095 Whipporwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105).
