Darryl Alan Barker, 24, of Frostproof passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Born August 17, 1983 in Orlando; he was a lifelong resident of the Lake Wales and Frostproof area. He was a deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and a member of the Crossridge Church, where he was the music minister. He was a 49er’s fan. He enjoyed playing video games and fishing. He was very musical and enjoyed playing several different instruments.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Barker of Frostproof; parents, Robert “Bob” and Tammy Barker of Lake Wales; maternal grandfather, Tom Brooks of Lake Wales; paternal grandparents, Bill & Norma Barker of Lake Wales; brother, David & wife, Matisha, Barker of Lake Wales; and two nephews, Jacob and Josh.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 28, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof. A private family interment will be held.
