Danny "Dan" Ray Downing

Danny "Dan" Ray Downing was born on April 23, 1956, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He passed away peacefully at his residence on March 25, 2026. He lived a life filled with curiosity and a love for the natural world.

Dan had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was passionate about hydroponics, gardening, and botany, always keen to understand and nurture plants. He also enjoyed building things with his hands, showing skill and creativity in his projects. Cars and drag racing excited him, as did the thrill of wind sailing. Traveling and camping were activities he appreciated, delighting in the adventure of exploring new places and the calm of the outdoors.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Mary Downing, and his sister Bev Patterson. He is survived by his sister, Debbie Riley, and her husband Jim of Frostproof; nieces, Candi Paxton, and her husband James, and Shyleah Calderon; nephew, Jacob Riley; great-nieces, Kearstin Kenshalo, Kiah Kenshalo, Kailey Kenshalo, and Kaydin Calderon; two great-great-nieces; and brother-in-law, Roy Patterson of Illinois.
