FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Daniel L. Simmons of Frostproof died of heart failure Sunday (July 30, 2006) at home. He was 82.

Born Oct. 2, 1923, Mr. Simmons moved to Frostproof from Sebring in 1988. He was a retired salesman in food service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Margery Simmons; daughters, Sharon Hawkins and Jill Bell, both of Cape Cod, Mass., Brenda Gardner, Somerset, Mass.; sons, John Simmons, Taunton, Mass., Brad Simmons, Naples; stepsons, Darrell Branning, Tallahassee, Dolan Branning, Missouri, Doyce Branning, Winter Haven; sisters, Avie McCall, Nocatee, Mina Cox, Nashville, Ga., Marie Haffner, Calahan; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or the First United Methodist Church.
