LAKE WALES -- Mr. Daniel W. Peavey Jr. of Lake Wales died of complications following heart surgery Sunday (Oct. 9, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 70.

Born in Bangor, Maine, on Dec. 16, 1934, he came to Lake Wales from Wallingford, Conn., in 1994. He was a retired engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and he was a member of the Marine Corps League. He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Mr. Peavey is survived by his wife, Eleanor M. Peavey; daughter, Brenda Purcell, Lake Wales; sons, Michael Peavey, Shapleigh, Maine, and Stephen Peavey, Wallingford, Conn.; sisters, Christine Shaw, Hampden, Maine, Geraldine Kitchen, Bangor, Maine, and Marie Dyer, Camden, Maine; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Church memorial fund.
