Daniel N. “Dan” Berry, 73
Daniel N. “Dan” Berry, 73, of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away on December 21, 2021, after a battle with cancer.
Dan was born on June 25, 1948 to Shannon Wallace Berry and Evelyn Snipes Berry in Riverside, California. After graduating from Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, California and moving to Topeka, Kansas, he proudly served five years in the Marine Corp reserves from 1968 – 1973. He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
Dan followed in his fathers footsteps in the Poultry “Egg” Business his entire life, which took him from California to Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and finally Florida. Dan met many great people throughout his years in the egg business whose friendships he always cherished.
On June 12, 1971, he married Jolene F. Burton in Topeka, who survives him. Dan and Jolene went on to have 2 children, a son Corey (Cara) of New Braunfels, Texas, and daughter, Jenni Coffman (John) of Lake Wales; 2 granddaughters, Lily Berry and Everly Coffman, and a grandson, Noah Coffman (who will enter this world soon). Dan is also survived by his brother, Ken (Marian) Berry of Topeka, Kansas; cousins, Rick (Judy) and Steve (Cindy) Freeman and families of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Shannon and Evelyn; and two siblings, sister Carol Roberts and brother Dave. Also his loving maternal grandparents, Finis and Zela Snipes, who were always there during his childhood.
Dan enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping, but most of all loved being with this family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he mentioned often. He could fix anything and spent his retirement years helping the community he lived in and enjoying his two granddaughters. He was described by those who knew him as being “open hearted and a tender soul”. Just a Good Guy!
