LAKE WALES -- Mr. CW Smith of Lake Wales died of lung failure Monday (March 27, 2006) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 82.

Born in Port Huron, Mich., on June 7, 1923, he came to Lake Wales from there in 1979. He was the owner and chef at Smith's Pantry in Port Huron. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW, where he served as past commander. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was also a retired barber for the Nalcrest Barber Shop. He was a Lutheran.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Frances Ellen Smith; daughter, Sharon K. Smith, Winter Haven; sons, the Rev. Larry W. Smith, Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Stanley C. Smith, Largo, Dennis S. Smith, Port Huron; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saddlebag Community Church.
