FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Curtis Reed Monk of Frostproof died of heart failure Friday (July 28, 2006). He was 70.

Born July 17, 1936, in Ozark, Ala., Mr. Monk moved to Frostproof from Newton, Ala., in 1955. He worked as a road maintenance supervisor for Polk County. He attended New Life Baptist Church of Fort Meade.

Mr. Monk is survived by his wife, Linda Monk; son, Christopher Monk, Sparta, N.C.; brothers, Marvett Monk and Jude Monk, both of Frostproof; sisters, Martha Solis, Sebring, Retha Horsley and Viola Pitts, both of Dothan, Ala., Wanda Ashbury, Troy, Ala.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Frostproof. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
