Curtis Colbert

Lake Wales: Curtis “Poppy” Colbert, 69, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born in Alabama, he lived in Frostproof for 40 years before coming to Lake Wales 3 years ago.

He was a retired grove maintenance worker for Davis Brothers and Wardlaw and Dickinson. He enjoyed playing the lotto and being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Zelma Davis, brother Ray Henson and son, Gary Davis. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilson Colbert,
Step-children, Deborah Davis, Beverly Brown Smith, Susan Taylor, Lisa Montgomery, Guy Davis, Christopher Wilson, Eric Burgess; many grandchildren including Alisha Burgess, Greg Wilson, Robert Montgomery, Shawn Montgomery, Gary Davis, Jr., Chrise Davis, Casey Davis, Howard “Huck” Brown, Brandy Taylor, Tommy Taylor, Christopher Montgomery; many great-grandchildren including Raul Nolasquez Davis, Joshua Brown, and Emma Grace Brown; brother James Colbert;
Other family members include Rhonda Colbert, Wayne Henson, Gene Henson, Kenny Henson, Willie Henson, Gary Henson, Thelma Henson, Mildred Henson; friends include Roy Pitts, Hojo and Carol Brown and many other loved ones.

The family will receive all family and friends on Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service at 12:00 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
