Coy Bennett of Frostproof passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Winter Haven Hospital.
He was born November 23, 1919 in Naples, FL to the late Raymond H. & Vicky Mae (Youngman) Bennett; and moved from Winter Haven to Frostproof in 2008. He retired after 29 years from Eastern Airlines as a mechanic, was of the Pentecostal faith and was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Army and Air Force.
Coy was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Jane Bennett, parents, two brothers, Clyde & Frank Bennett and a sister, Annie Bennett. Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Schutzenhoffer; son, Larry Bennett (Carlotta) of Winter Haven; sisters, Lillian Buser of Thonotassa, Lorene Parker of Sarasota, Lottie Lindsey of Naples and Yvonne Dykes of Naples; brothers, Bill Bennett of Chipley, Donald Bennett of Riverview and Tommy Bennett of Greenville; 2 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. The funeral service will be held 9:00 am, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof with Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Interment will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
