Coveda (Mack) McIntosh McKenzie, 71

FORT MEADE - Coveda (Mack) McIntosh Mckenzie, 71, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 in Valrico, FL, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. Mack was born November 14, 1949 in Albany, GA, the youngest of four brothers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ellnor McKenzie, as well as his brothers, David and John McKenzie.

Mack graduated from Lake Wales High School, with his high school sweetheart Claudia. After graduating from Erskine College in South Carolina, he returned to Florida where he and Claudia crossed paths at the University of Florida. Following marriage, the two settled in Fort Meade where he taught at Fort Meade High School for 34 years, sharing his love of history and jokes with generations of students.

Through his teaching, Mack brought theatrics, fun and passion into the classroom.  As a husband and father, his dedication, sensitivity and love were always present.  He enjoyed world travel, antiques, history, the British Monarchy and spending time at the family home in North Carolina. But through all things, the sounds of laughter and his quick-wit were omnipresent.

Mack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Claudia Mann McKenzie, daughters Nora (available) McLeod of Lakeland, FL, Margaret (Jaime) Irizarry of Orlando, FL, Ellie (Cody) Dahl of Valrico, FL, Mollie (Steven) Rowell of Lakeland, FL, brother William (Bill) McKenzie of Cullowhee, NC and seven grandchildren: McKenzie, Christiana, Olivia, Kennis, Jeremiah, Sarah Claudia and Britton.

A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM, Bethlehem Memorial Cemetery, 17385 Bethlehem Rd, Lithia, FL 33547. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bethlehem Memorial Cemetery, P.O. Box 78, Bradley, FL 33835.
