BABSON PARK -- Mr. Colley E. Chavis of Babson Park died of heart failure Saturday (April 8, 2006) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 65.

Born in Baxley, Ga., on Oct. 2, 1940, he came to Babson Park from there in 1951. He was a forklift driver for Florida's Natural. He was a member of Babson Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Chavis is survived by his wife, Helen G. Chavis; daughter, Deborah Sanchez, Babson Park; sons, William R. Flynn, Lake Wales, David A. Flynn, Pisgah, N.C., Kenneth V. Flynn, Penrese, N.C., and Charles M. Chappell, Kissimmee; mother, Mary Lee Chavis, Babson Park; brothers, Daniel Chavis, Baxley, and H.D. Chavis, Babson Park; sister, Shirley Peacock, Babson Park; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.
