FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Clyde D. Yates of Frostproof died of cancer Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) at home. He was 86.

Born in Brooks County, Ga., on March 24, 1919, he came to Frostproof from there in 1923. He was self-employed in the citrus industry. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Frostproof.

Mr. Yates is survived by his wife, Leila Yates; daughter, Connie Nash, Okeechobee; sons, Charles L. Yates, Kodiak, Tenn., Don D. Yates, Apopka; mother, Alva Yates, Frostproof; seven grandchildren; seven great-grand-children.
