Clarence John Rafeld, Jr.

August 23, 1921 — December 26, 2018

Clarence John Rafeld, Jr. (Jeep), 97, died peacefully on Wednesday,  December 26, 2018, at The Bridge of Ocala.

He was born August 23, 1921, in Easton, Ohio. He moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Florida in 1993.  He was an active member of Lake Wales Lutheran Church and attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ocala.

Clarence  was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Geraldine; a grandson Maj. Jonathan P. Scheer; and two brothers, Blair and Ed.  He is survived by his daughter Carol Lynn and her husband Rev. Ron Scheer of Ocala; granddaughter Pamela and husband David Bailey, and two great-grandchildren JP and Kyle of Orlando; and  brother-in-law Herbert Frederick of Ann Arbor, MI,

Clarence was a World War II Veteran.  He served in the Army in Europe as a radio operator, earning the Bronze Medal for heroic service in connection with operations against the enemy.  He worked for Asplundh Tree Service and Bendix Aerospace Systems in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He was an avid University of Michigan Football fan and worked as an assistant to the football team equipment manager for over 30 years.  Some of his hobbies were: woodworking, assembling Tiffany lamps, and making fabric plates.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 15th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on SR 200 in Ocala, FL with Rev. Joseph Signore III officiating.
