Clarence R. "Chief" Highfield, Jr, 87 of River Ranch, Florida passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Cornerstone Hospice at Winter Park Towers in Winter Park, Florida just two days before his 88th birthday.
Known as Chief most of his life, he was born June 7, 1926 in New Boston, Ohio to the late Clarence R. Highfield, Sr. and Roxie Faye (Fry) Highfield and has been a resident of Polk County since 1989 moving here from Dayton, Ohio. Chief was a retired Sales Manager for L.M. Berry Advertising. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Wheelersburg, Ohio and the Shriners Temple of Memphis, Tennessee. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army.
Chief was predeceased by a sister, France Pollard Raynard and a brother, Arnold Ray Highfield, both of Portsmouth, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Russ Highfield of Spring Haven Memory Care Retirement Home in Winter Haven, Florida, son Clarence R. Highfield III (Jock) and his wife, Barbara of Tombstone, Arizona, former daughter-in-law Susan Highfield of Charleston South Carolina, three grandchildren, Duke Highfield of Charleston S.C. and his wife, Frances; Trevor Highfield of Louisburg N.C. and his wife, Clarelouise; Roxie Faye Giles of Astoria, Oregon and her husband, Michael and nine great-grandchildren.
