Clair Elwood Long, Sr.

Mr. Clair Elwood Long, Sr. of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his residence.

He was born January 27, 1917 in Shamokin, PA to the late Queye & Laura (Adams) Long; he came here 30 years ago from Baltimore, MD. He was a retired component tester for Bendix Avionics in Baltimore, MD for 38 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and his pet beagles.

Clair was the last remaining child of 8 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Evon K. Long; sons, Clair Elwood Long, Jr. of Lake Wales and Ronald Lee Long (Melody) of Lake Wales; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Ken Geren officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2590 Havendale Blvd. N.W., Winter Haven, Florida 33881.
