Charlotte Wood

Charlotte Turley Wood, 86, most recently of Sebring, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Florida Hospital in Sebring after a short illness. She was born March 29, 1931 to Everett and Bessie Turley in South Charleston, West Virginia.

Charlotte grew up in West Virginia and attended the Fifth Avenue Church of God where Dr. Hillary Rice was her pastor. There she sang in a trio with the late Rev. Oral Withrow and the late Rev. Bill Arthur. Dr. and Mrs. Rice introduced her to and encouraged her to attend Anderson College, which she did from 1948-1950. There she met and married Charles Wood on August 26, 1949 and they began their over 45 years of loving ministry in the Church of God. They served six Churches of God in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. They are the parents of Risë Singer, Rick and Robin, grandparents of Brittany, Leah, Brady and Annie and great-grandparents of Finn, Miles, Evelyn, Adah and June.

She was a dedicated 'pastor's wife', a gifted pianist and hostess and often accompanied Charles to camp meetings and revivals. She served as church secretary, Sunday School teacher, church pianist and organist, and always supported Charles in his many aspects of ministry.

After retirement in 1988, Charles and Charlotte became full-time RVer's for 16 years. They traveled over 350,000 miles in the United States and Canada. During those years they were interim pastors to ten different churches in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Kentucky, West Virginia and Michigan.

In 1991 Charles and Charlotte were awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from Anderson University for a Distinguished Career in Ministry and Continuing Dedication to AU.

They settled in Florida as their permanent residence in 2003.

Charlotte is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years Charles W. Wood, their three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral. Memorial contributions can be made to Youth With A Ministry, P. O. Box 268, Rockford, MN 55373. Checks can be made payable to YWAM with a note attached designating that funds are for staff support of Luke and Cristal McClain in memory of Charlotte Wood.
