Charles I. "Charlie" Welch

Charles I. "Charlie" Welch of Frostproof passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born May 23, 1941 in Clarendon County, SC to the late Clyde William & Glennie (Harrelson) Welch; and he came here from Lugoff, SC 10 years ago. He was retired from E.I. DuPont in Camden, SC and a member of the First Baptist Church in Frostproof. He was an avid sports fan, especially Nascar and golfing. He also enjoyed camping and was an Atlanta Braves fan.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel W. Welch; sons, Ingram Welch (Lorrie) of Elgin, SC and McLeod Welch (Glenda) of Sumter, SC; step-daughters, Kim Hyatt (Tejon) of Seguin, TX and Renda Hodge (Lester) of Cassatt, SC; sister, Betty W. Driggers (Linwood) of Turbeville, SC; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled at this time. Funeral service will be held in Lugoff, SC under the direction of Powers Funeral Home.
