Charles Chester Meyer, Sr.

Charles Chester Meyer Sr., of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, February 01, 2014, at the Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born February 2, 1929, in Frostproof to the late Fred & Eliza Meyer; and has been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired construction superintendent, a member of the Church of God in Frostproof and was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and loved his pet dog, Dusty. He enjoyed flowers and his wife was seldom without roses.

Chester was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Meyer; daughter, Vanessa O’Loane; son, Charles Chester Meyer Jr; and a sister, Mary Groover. Survivors include his wife, Lois Meyer; son, Fred Meyer of Frostproof; step-son, Barry Dodson and wife, Robin of Richburg, SC; step-daughter, Lynn Laughter and husband, Ben of Rocky Face, GA; son-in-law, Vern “Cookie” O’Loane of Birmingham, AL; seven step-grandchildren, Judson, Mark, Mary Lynn, Drew, Kent, Robert and Dia; and five step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Rodney Cannon officiating. Graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
