Charles Henry Meek, Sr., 90

Charles Henry Meek of Babson Park, Florida passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in Pennsylvania.

Charles was born March 12, 1934, in Dallas, Georgia to the late John and Inez Meek; he moved to Babson Park from Frostproof in 1964. Charles was of the Catholic Faith and took great pride and care in all the work he did as a State Inspector for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Charles was an avid sports fan who liked to take walks in nature, care for his yard, and in the summers, he worked devotedly at Lanes Southern Orchard inspecting peaches for 61 years as " Mr. Charlie" in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, LaDonna Meek; daughter, LaDonna K. Meek; brothers, Gordon Meek, Robert Meek, Ralph Meek, Tom Meek and Talmadge Meek; sister, Dora Gulledge; two grandsons, Jonathan Andrew Bretch and Allen Parker Bretch.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Theresa Vandermark (Steven) of Orlando, Florida; son, Charles Meek, Jr. (Patricia) of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2024, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Father Lusi Osorio officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
