CHARLES D. (C. D.) MCCRANIE, JR.
C. D. McCranie passed away peacefully at home on December 24th. C. D. was born in Faceville, Georgia December 20, 1916 and recently celebrated his 92nd birthday with family. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois E. McCranie and is survived by his son, Ron McCranie and daughter-in-law, Phyllis of Tallahassee; daughter June Newcomer and son-in-law Chuck of Raleigh, NC; daughter Carol Simmons and son-in-law Chuck of Kissimmee. He was affectionately known as Papa to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his close friend, Fran Thompson of Kissimmee.
C. D. owned McCranie’s Standard Service station on the corner of Central and First Street in Lake Wales for many years. He later retired from Alcoma Corporation and enjoyed a long and active retirement, often golfing at the Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee where he lived for the past few years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe and North Africa during WWII, and was active in the Methodist Men’s Club and Sunday School at First United Methodist Church in Lake Wales.
A memorial service will be held early this week.
