Charles Emery Grandy, 92
Charles Emery Grandy of Avon Park passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024,, at his residence.
He was born March 11, 1931, in Trimble, Ohio to the late Virgil and Goldie Grandy; he moved to Lake Wales from Miami in 1989. Chuck was the owner and operator of Miller Truck and Equipment. He served with the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1961 and was very involved with First Baptist Church of Lake Wales. Chuck enjoyed watching old westerns and was a fan of the Florida Gators. He was inducted to the Tremble, Ohio Hall of Fame in three sports: football, basketball, and baseball. Chuck was very competitive. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was very proud of his hole in one.
Chuck was preceded in death by his grandson, Larry Antonucci. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Anna “Debbie” Grandy; daughter, Linda Grandy-Antonucci and husband Larry of Avon Park; son, Charles Grandy and wife Terri of Sebring; sister, Ida Keith of Glouster, Ohio; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Hagwood and Mr. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to First Baptist Church (www.fbclw.com) or Good Shepherd Hospice (www.chaptershealth.org).
