Charles J. “Chuck” Gaines, Jr. of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his residence.

He was born August 5, 1946 in Brooksville, Florida to the late Charles and Florrie Mae Stephens Gaines. Chuck was a retired Accountant and had a bachelor’s degree. He was a member of the Lake Wales Church of Christ and the American Legion.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Gaines; sons, Jeffrey Peters (Kristy) of Houston, TX, Michael Gaines of Lakeland, FL, and Terron Gaines (Yuliana) of Maumelle, AR; and grandchildren, Corbin and Yvana.

Chuck was a lifelong servant in the Lord’s church, to his family, the military, the workforce and served in every community where he lived. He was a patriot that loved his country and continued his service in the American Legion. Spiritually, he led singing, prayer, Bible class and worship. He was athletic and sought out and enjoyed outdoor activities.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The funeral service, which will be live-streamed, will follow at 1:30 p.m.  with John Guzzetta officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Enon Cemetery in Plant City.
