LAKE WALES -- Mr. Charles H. Duncan Jr. of Lake Wales died of complications following a stroke Saturday (Oct. 22, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 81.

Born in Galax, Va., on Aug. 27, 1924, he came to Lakeland from Martinsville, Va., 20 years ago. He was a retired police officer for the Hampton Police Department in Hampton, Va. He was also an antique dealer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was Baptist.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Ramsey; daughters, Charlotte Schuckers, Big Run, Pa., Sherrie Frazier, Lake Wales, Rena Stevens, Bartow; son, Charles H. Duncan III, Edwards, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales.
