Charles Gentry Carter, 78
Charles Gentry Carter of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Somers Hospice House.
He was born April 7, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Wiley and Martha Carter; he moved to Frostproof from Batavia, Illinois in 1975. Charles was a “Pride” Supervisor for Pride and was a mechanic in his younger years. He served with the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1969 and was a member of New Hope Church. Charles enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Carter and brothers, Larry and Roger Carter. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Carter; son, Shane Carter and wife Heidi of Frostproof; sisters, Sheila Sergant and husband Don of Frostproof, and Linda Burton and husband Rick of Princeton, Illinois; brother, Mike Carter of Frostproof; grandson, Justin and fiancé Tiffany; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Zoey.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2024 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Pastor Kelly Galati officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery.
