Charles Ray “Chuck” Brooks, 53, of Lake Wales died of heart failure Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born July 28, 1954 in Winter Haven; He was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a truck driver. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Waverly and a volunteer police officer in Eagle Lake and Lake Wales.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Ailene Brooks. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Mary “Penny” Brooks of Lake Wales; daughters, Jennifer Brooks of Sarasota; Marilyn Britton of Lakeland; Loretta Brooks of Lake Wales; father, Ray Brooks of Waverly; brothers, Ricky Brooks of Waverly; John Brooks of Lake Wales; sisters, Barbara Jewell of Winter Haven; Tresa Choate of Waverly; Carolyn Jewell of Lakeland; and 9 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
