Catherine Lasseter Newell

Catherine Lasseter Newell of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Bartow Regional Medical Center.

She was born December 4, 1941 in Lake Wales to the late L. T. and Evie Lee (Knowles) Lasseter; and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Catherine was a mother of three, grandmother of five, and of the Baptist faith. She was proud to be a majorette at the Lake Wales High School, a wonderful homemaker, immaculate housekeeper, great cook, very involved with her children growing up, enjoyed spending time with her family and loved the beach.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberli Rene Crosby of Winter Haven, and Valeri Rayborn of Lakeland; son, James McKinney Cooper, Jr. of DeFuniak Springs; sister, Margie Fulghum of Maggie Valley, NC; brother, Mike "Hawk" Lasseter of Lake Wales; five grandchildren, Devin Michael Beaudua, Christopher James Cooper, Brittney Rose Bass, Cameron Leigh Apelquist, and Anthony Edward Cooper; and two great-grandchildren, Annabelle Leigh Richardson and Dallon Bass.

Memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM.
