FROSTPROOF – Carrie R. Hastings, 88, of Frostproof, Florida, passed away on May 27, 2016. She was born on September 28, 1927, in Wildwood, Florida, to Rev. Dr. Paul L and Carolyn S. Redfearn. Carrie taught for many years in the Bartow, Florida, public schools. A lifelong Methodist, she was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Bartow, Florida, and subsequently of First UMC in Frostproof.
Carrie was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth W. Hastings (2001). She is survived by her children Pam Hastings, Sherborn, MA; Gretchen Hastings, Lakeland, FL; Claire Hastings, Edgewater, FL; Ken Hastings, Bartow, FL; her sister, Ella May Banton (Jack), Lakeland, FL; her brother, Paul L. Redfearn, Jr. (Alice), Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 1, 2016, at First UMC Frostproof, 150 Devane St., Frostproof, Florida, with the Rev. Brian R. Smith officiating. The service will be preceded by a gathering of friends and family at 1 p.m. in the church lounge.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Frostproof’s Parsonage Kitchen Renovation Fund.
