FROSTPROOF – Carolyn Walden Churchwell, 85, of Frostproof, Florida, passed away on Monday night, January 1, 2018, at her home on Silver Lake in Frostproof, after battling serious health issues the last few years.
Carolyn was born at home on August 11, 1932, in Dover, Florida, to the late Harvey J. Walden and Janelle Holbrook Walden. She grew up in Plant City attending Plant City schools except for 3 months attending Kathleen High School in Lakeland where she met Richard “Clem” Churchwell and married in 1951. They moved to Frostproof in 1963 when “Clem” became the Principal of Frostproof Elementary School. She became active in her church serving as the choir director at the First Assembly of God for many years, and in the community serving in many positions, including president, for the Frostproof Woman’s Club. She was a successful entrepreneur, starting her own interior decorating business, Carolyn’s Interiors, making custom made draperies for many of the families in Frostproof. She fell in love with Frostproof because of it’s small town atmosphere like Plant City where she grew up and decided to retire here.
