LAKE WALES--Carl E. Werden of Lake Wales died of complications of a stroke Saturday (Nov. 04, 2006) at the Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 87.
Born September 19, 1919 in Frankfort, NY; he came to the area in 1979 from Brookfield, CT. He was a retired counselor and director of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program at Lakeland Manor Hospital. After his retirement he was a self-employed cabinet maker and furniture craftsman. He also enjoyed fishing and camping and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Mr. Werden is preceded in death by 4 children; Carol Ann Werden, Rory J. Werden, James Werden and Linda Corbett. Survivors include his wife Sue Werden of Lake Wales; children, Kim Keenan, Albert V. Werden, Timothy Werden, Mark Werden, Ricky Werden all of CT; Kenny Werden of NY; step-children, James Corbett of CT; Karen Valentine of ME; John Corbett of TX; Carol Kilgore of FL; Robert Corbett of DC; sister, Evelyn Courtemanche of CT; several grand and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday (Nov. 08, 2006) at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Pastor John Guzzetta officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, Florida 33823.
