Carl Glen Thornton, Sr.

Carl Glen Thornton, Sr. of Lake Wales passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Somers Hospice House in Sebring.

He was born October 29, 1935 in Sarasota to the late Theodore G. & Edna Mae Thornton; and he has been a resident of the area for 18 years. He was retired from I.M.C., was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughters, Joan Baxley (Billy) of Frostproof and Lori Underwood (Ricky) of Winter Haven; sons, Carl G. Thornton, Jr. (Judy) of Wauchula and Michael Thornton (Robyn) of Frostproof; wife, Jane Land of Lake Wales; former spouse Barbara Thornton of Lake Wales; brother, Franklin D. Thornton of Lake Wales; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bereah.
