Carl F. Lewis of Lake Wales passed Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
He was born April 20, 1925 in New London, CT to the late Harold & Carrie (Bailey) Lewis; and he moved from Stonington, CT to Homestead, FL where he lived for 5 years, until he came to Lake Wales 20 years ago. He was a retired chemical supervisor for the Charles Pfizer Corp, a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mystic, CT and the V.F.W. He enjoyed reading and traveling, was an animal lover and a flea market shopper.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice J. Lewis; a daughter, Debra Ann Lewis and two grandsons, Michael and Kenneth. Survivors include his daughters, Gayle Davis (Kenneth) of Pauducah, KY, Robin Kluck (Albert) of Marathon, FL, Linda Contino (Paul) of Groton, CT and Denise Hicks (Al) of Montville, CT; sister, Maxine Fulton of Lake Wales; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; dear companion, Carolyn Miller and beloved dog, Mindy.
No local services are scheduled at this time. Services and inurnment will be held at a later date at Lambs Town Cemetery in Ledyard, CT.
