CARL “STAN” CRIDER, 71
Carl “Stan” Crider of Lake Wales, FL passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born January 20, 1946 in Jonesville, VA to the late Rev. Ross V. and Loretta F. Crider; he moved to Lake Wales from Otterbein, IN in 2009. He was retired from Caterpillar in Lafayette, IN where he work as a machinist. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam war.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. His love of God was most important. He was a southern Baptist ordained minister and gospel singer. He served the Lord in many capacities including Pastor, Youth Director, Sunday School Director & Teacher, Music Director and Evangelism Director in many churches though out his life. He had a nursing home ministry as well as a radio broadcast program for many years. He was part of several gospel singing groups. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Lake Wales, FL.
Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Gloria Jean Ward Crider; daughters, Tonda Crider of West Lafayette, IN and Treeva Sarles (Russell) of Otterbein, IN; step-son, Kevin Ward of New Castle, IN; brother, Ross Virgil Crider (Diana) of Lynchburg, VA; two granddaughters, Heather Borgman (Mitch) of Noblesville, IN and Holly Sarles of Miamisburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Donna Crider and a sister Martha Rutledge.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:30am at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Otterbein, IN Funeral Service following visitation at 12:00pm Burial will take place at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, Indiana. A Memorial Service will be held at Westside Baptist Church, Lake Wales, FL on December 10, 2017 at 1:00pm Condolences may be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhome.com.
