Calvin Polk of Frostproof passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born April 9, 1927 in Bowling Green, Florida to the late Oscar and Etha (Lightsey) Polk; and he moved to Frostproof from Tampa 20 years ago. He was self employed in the citrus industry and a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. He was of the Protestant faith.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Frona Mae Fletcher Polk. Survivors include his daughters, Sylvia Marlene Field of Sarasota, Catherine Suzette Schmerbeck (Norman) of Palatka, Patricia Ann Burkett (Bill) of St. Petersburg and Mary Jean Tomlinson of Lakeland; sons, John Boone of Frostproof and Charles C. Polk of St. Cloud; brother, Gilbert Polk of Bowling Green; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and companion of 20 years, Wendy Smith.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the funeral service at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Otto Polk, Jr. and Rev. William Burkett officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
