Bruno John Bourgeois, 98

Bruno John Bourgeois passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Bruno was born in St. Albert, Canada, on April 25, 1923, to the late Firmin and Aldea Bourgeois.
He joined the Navy in 1941 where he held qualifications, certificates as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class and served during WWII. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer with 20 years of service to his country. During this period he received an American Area Metal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. Bruno was affiliated with the U.S. Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, FL, and Naval Memorial in Washington, D.C., and Retired Enlisted Association.
He had a long work history including, dairy farmer, Boeing, FMC, Realtor and an Auctioneer, along with small jobs that keep him busy during his 43 years of civilian retirement. He was of Catholic faith and a member of the VFW Post 2420. He received a certificate as a Master Gardner from Polk Community College; loved nature; was an avid hiker; a birder and was a certified scuba diver.


Bruno is preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Bourgeois, Bernard Bourgeois, and Charles Bourgeois; his sisters Theresa Bertrand, Rose Butler, Leona Hart, and Louisa Gingras and his grandson Jonathan Charles Dick.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Virginia Bourgeois; his daughters Marie Dick and husband Charles of Sarasota; Christine Stigale and husband Fred of Willis, Texas; his son Bruce Bourgeois and wife Linda of Lake Wales; his brother Andre Bourgeois of New Jersey; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
