Blanche L. Brasington passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at her residence in St. Cloud due to complications of Alzheimer’s.

Born May 31, 1919 in Bibb County, GA to the late Lonnie and Roxie Long; she came to St. Cloud from Ocala in 1996 and was a longtime resident of Lake Wales. She was a house parent for the Alice D. McPhearson Residential Facility and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, camping and cooking.

Blanche was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Olan Rucks in 1962 and granddaughter, Melissa Rucks Sellers in 2006. Survivors include her husband, Joe C. Brasington; daughters, Pat Brown (Richard) of Lake Hamilton, Sherrie Hearn of Lake Wales, Dale Barker of Haines City and Martha Young (Dave) of St. Cloud; sons, William Rucks (Ann) of Tifton, GA and Tony Brasington (Jami) of Ocala; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Jim Waycaster officiating. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, FL.
