Billy Joe Scott of Lake Wales passed away Monday, August 31, 2010 at his residence.

He was born December 9, 1933 in Brevard, NC to the late Otho & Pearl (Brown) Scott; he came here 50 years ago from North Carolina. He was a mechanic and owner of Scott's Southgate Service Center and Johnny's Wrecker Service, was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast, private pilot, race car owner and driver, enjoyed working on motorcycles and his '57 Chevy. He also worked at Lekarica Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jean Kincaid Scott; daughters, Marietta Kincaid Burbank of Lake Wales, Virginia Kincaid Turner of Lake Wales, Sue Ellen Kincaid Grobtuch of Lake Wales, Sharon Scott Thompson (Mark) of Crossville, TN, Diana Scott of Brandon, Deborah Sturgille of Sebring and Helen Kincaid Hill (Dave) of Lake Wales; son, James Cecil Kincaid III of Bradenton; sisters, Clara Jane Gosen of North Carolina, Lenna Brown of Mexico and Rhoda Riley of Kansas; brother, Johnny King Scott of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 2, 2010 and the funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lake Wales.
